Amiga Paradise Radio has received an important upgrade today: the radio is now also available through a standard Icecast stream.

Until now, listening to the radio mainly meant keeping Amiga Paradise open in your browser and using the integrated player. This player isn't going anywhere, but you now have another option: you can listen to the exact same radio stream directly from your favorite compatible media player, such as VLC, XMPlay or many other Internet radio players.

A downloadable M3U playlist is now available from the Radio section of the Amiga Paradise menu. Download it once, open it with your preferred player, and you can keep Amiga Paradise Radio alongside your other Internet radio stations without having to visit the website every time.
The Icecast stream carries the current track information, so compatible players can display the software and track currently playing. Requests made through Amiga Paradise are also part of the same radio: whether you listen from the website or through Icecast, everyone is listening to the same broadcast.

This new streaming option also considerably increases the capacity of the radio. The original web player remains available for up to 25 simultaneous listeners, while the new Icecast stream can accommodate up to 500 additional listeners.

Amiga Paradise Radio is also starting to appear in public Internet radio directories, making the station easier to discover outside Amiga Paradise itself.

Nothing changes for those who are happy with the existing web player. Icecast simply gives you a new, more flexible way to listen — and hopefully helps bring the huge collection of Amiga music preserved on Amiga Paradise to a wider audience.
